Announcing: Spring Yin Wood Snake Qigong Practice
Embrace the energy of the Yin Wood Snake this new year with a transformative 7-week Qigong practice. The Yin Wood Snake symbolizes a year of inward reflection and growth (Yin), coupled with the burgeoning energy of springtime and new beginnings (Wood). This potent combination suggests a time for profound personal transformation, akin to the snake shedding its skin, and the vital life force moving within us in a spiraling, undulating pattern.
In this spirit of renewal, we'll explore the Yin Yang Sheng Jiang Kai He Gong, an ascending, descending, opening, and closing practice from the Jin Jing Gong lineage of Qingchen Mountain in Sichuan Province. This foundational four-part form cultivates alignment with our center, uprightness, and virtue, naturally leading to improved health, wellness, and harmony.
This principle of alignment is beautifully articulated in the ancient Daoist text, the Nei-Yeh (Inward Training, circa 300 BCE or earlier):
“When your body is not aligned, the inner power will not come.
When you are not tranquil within, your mind will not be well ordered.
Align your body, assist the inner power, then it will gradually come on its own.”

Just as the seasons cycle from Spring (upward energy) to Summer (outward), Fall (downward), and Winter (inward), this Qigong practice harmonizes these natural movements within our bodies and minds. It promotes balance between upward and downward, inward and outward energies, creating a deep sense of well-being.
