The Blood of Christ

The Blood of Christ. Photography. Alexander Kalamaja, 12/23/2023

I was making an ancient Persian saffron tincture tonight called “The Blood of Christ” Saffron is the stamen of a wild crocus flower from the fertile crescent - Mesopotamia - the mother and root from where we all began. The image above appeared in the shadow of the tincture bottle cast against a light. It seems very mysterious, numinous and “Christ-like.” Spirit incarnating into Matter.
